I launched, not much happened. Now what?
Title gives the general story. I had a side project I enjoyed working on so I decided to "launch it" since that seems to be the consensus for vetting possible business ideas. So I
- Hacked an MVP together
- created a write up
- and a video to go with it
- created a landing page
- Made a few posts about on social media
The result, a handful of likes and a few sign ups but a lot of interest. So my question is does this mean its a dud and I should move on?
I do plan to follow up with some of the folks who signed up and ask for their feedback so I can learn. But unless they love it and tell a bunch more people about it, this seems like its not something that I could turn into a business. Which while sad, I'd rather know now instead of pouring time and energy into a bad idea.
I'd appreciate any feedback or advice.
I think the technology itself is really cool however I think that you positioning is maybe what's limiting?
I understand this technology is really cool for developer but as a developer myself it took more than a couple seconds to understand what was happening (I didn't really understand the tech until I read your write up)
I think the video you created as an example is more confusing than helpful when viewed out of context (not with the write up)
Maybe remake the video to explain the technology your working on (it seems like it was explaining a bitcoin purchase request but not your technology?)
I also think letting people know that you youtube video is example output from your tech would help.
Lastly I'd recommend taking some of the language and adding it to your landing page or video description
PS Right now the language is very featu3re driven and not benefit/outcome. By talking more about outcomes like (save 100s of hours not having to explain your code to coworkers)
I think the idea and technology is really cool plus could see non-developers using it depending on the product implementation (I'd love to have a similar explain tech for business processes to help interns/new hires get onboarded faster [loom is great but recording a multistep process can be tedious])
Ok. Really appreciate the feedback @vintually. This project does feel a bit like a solution looking for a problem. But its just really fun to work on :) I'll make some of the updates you suggested and work on the value proposition. I'm also finding it tough to locate folks with the same exact problem I have maybe I'll try a paid advertising experiment if that is able to better target people.

I think before paying for ads you could find your audience on Reddit or Twitter (you'll just need to filter through the subreddits/hashtags, coding ones at the start can help you see how programmers respond).
