I’m a saturation diver building a legal tech product.

I’m a saturation diver working offshore in the North Sea, and between rotations I’ve been building a legal tech product called BriefBase. The idea came from my own experience dealing with a legal situation. What surprised me was that the hardest part wasn’t understanding the law, it was explaining what had actually happened.

When something legal happens your head fills with noise. Emotion, opinions from friends, things you read online, and details that may or may not matter. But if you speak to a solicitor, what they actually need is clarity: what happened, what documents exist, and what outcome you’re hoping for.

Most people struggle to organise that. BriefBase started as a way to turn a messy situation into a clear, structured brief that a solicitor can quickly understand.

While building it something else became obvious. Not every legal problem actually needs a solicitor. Sometimes people just need reliable guidance or to be pointed toward trusted free resources. BriefBase aims to help people figure out where to start.

Building this while working offshore has been unusual. When you’re stuck in a saturation system for weeks, you have a lot of time to think about problems and ideas.

The challenge now is getting early feedback and figuring out whether this actually helps people the way I think it does. If anyone here has built in the legal space or has thoughts on early traction, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing them.
