So a couple of weeks I've been working on my newsletter and now it seems that I've come to a wall. The crazy thing is that I completely went into this blind and I've just been learning as go along, which lead me to this point now.
So I built my landing page from the ground up; https://theslice.co/
Now I'm a the point where I'm trying to curate content for my newsletter, but I'm finding this easier said than done and I feel as if I'm trying to cover more niches than I can handle. Was planning on releasing my first issue on Friday, but that definitely not going to happen.
Does anybody have any advice I can use to curate content or maybe some pointers from your own experience?
EDIT
Decided completely pivot the direction of the newsletter, and made the decision to drop it next week Friday, so I'm super stoked for that. Slowly but surely gaining my footing.
Keep it simple. No one expects issue 1 to be the New York Times. Focus on one story for the first one. Write your thoughts to introduce it and then provide a summary with a link.
Thanks for the insight! I appreciate it. I really am going blind into this but I guess that's what makes it more fun.
I did decide to kinda pivot though.
** Btw, thanks for subscribing! :D **
If you need content quickly you can buy licenses to articles, books and a ton of other stuff you could re-purpose and use for your newsletter. I'm sure there are quite a few websites that do this but one I've found and used for a few articles in the past is:
https://www.theplrstore.com/
As for longevity if you ran out of or can't find any you like hiring freelancers to write for you could be a good option. Before now I have hired people in college (UK so 16-18) and paid them £10-30 for an article.
Failing those I think you should still send it out on Friday maybe even some people receiving it would like to write/submit content to it.
I'm signed up so excited to see what you do with it.
Decided to pivot (again) Gonna focus on curating tech that others indie hackers and founders are making and showcase that instead, its less hassle than shifting to a ton of articles. I also realized that the niche was incredibly saturated.
I think this you feel is so normal, you have blank mind now, so it is so difficult for you to advance. Just focus on do one thing at the time, just one step, every day.
Dont expect to have hundreds of people show up day one!
It takes time when curating, a tip I have is letting other indie hackers contact you with their own stuff and showing it on your curation letter. They'll most likely hit subscribe out of courtesy of the transaction and you can beef up a community that way!
Don’t worry, I know full and well that on day 1, next to nobody is going to see lol. Need to start somewhere I guess.
I don’t really understand what you mean by “letting other indie hackers contact you with their own stuff”, are you saying I should take what other people have on their own newsletters and put it on mine????
No, @hattops is suggesting the stellar idea that you can give other indie hackers a way to contact you, so they can show you what they are building.
Then, you can browse through all the cool products that you've probably never heard of otherwise even if you're really active on IH and around the community, and tell your newsletter audience about the ones that you deem noteworthy.
That really is a great suggestion! Thanks.
That is a great suggestion. Many builders are lurking. They can't promote their project if they don't find open communication form.

Thank you! I really appreciate this, decided to revaluate my current niche a bit, but really, after reading it motivated me to carry on.
For the last two weeks, my entire inbox has just been filled with about 80 newsletters, so I have been reading those?
Do mind if you drop the link to your newsletter, I'd love to give it a read?
