I want out by building something to sell.

I'm going to be very straightforward here to not waste anyones time. I'm pretty wiped and burnt out in the tech industry. The constant need to learn new things, the worry of layoffs, outsourcing, AI, and much more is just getting me exhausted. I want out. I want to build something using all of my skills, and retire in my late thirties. And I want your advice as to how to find buyers.

Here's my background:

  • Years in marketing where I grew the organic reach of various internet and brick and mortar companies into the millions. I've done everything from traditional market research, running focus groups and surveys. I've handled the top SEO ranking for very major keywords.

  • I've held every title in the web world: Backend (Go, Java, Javascript, C#, and PHP), Devops (K8's, Docker, CI/CD pipelines), Frontend (Angular, Vue, React, React Native, Ionic, PhoneGap, etc). I also have some IoT and game developer experience.

  • I've also have been a project manager, product manager, product engineer. I've successfully scaled operations in two companies and done your standard creating product roadmaps. I've also managed outsourced teams on shoe string budgets.

  • I can also do a significant amount of UX design. Enough that it has substantially cut down on how much it has cost in the past to complete project by agencies.

What I have access to

  • Small time accounts
  • People that were formerly in finance that can keep me relatively safe in any deal I pursue.
  • I could probably convince my childhood friend that's an IP lawyer to work with me if need be and keep me safe on that front.
  • Outsourced labour in Thailand that will give trustable quality results.

What I want to offer

I want to create a profitable MVP that has healthy projections and will allow me to sell at $4.2 million USD after tax. I don't care if the startup is on its way to a billion dollar evaluation, I just want out. I want to give the buyer a healthy ROI.

I can give them any roadmap, process, they need so I don't need to be further involved after sale.

What I don't want

I do not care to be seen as some genius founder. I have zero interest in prestige. I don't even want to be known really. I don't want to drain more of my life on politics. I don't want to deal with VC. I don't want some weird options deal that I can leverage. I want out out. Hands dusted, fired, out.

I don't want to get into illegal or unethical businesses. A get rich quick scheme, there's nothing that was quick about accumulating the skills above. I don't want to screw over a buyer or get the better out of them.

Why do I want it?

Outside of the burnout. I'm just done. There's no passion. No anything. I've spent too much overtime in this industry. I didn't strike gold in the tech gold rush. The cost of living in Canada is extremely high and I want the standard things my parents were able to afford: a house, kids, a car, a hobby, vacation, decent healthcare, and a retirement. $4.2m is my calculation for that. I don't want to go through the ups and downs of hiring markets and I want to take on work because I want to, not out of need.

How do I sell to someone and what financial projections do I need to make my $4.2m valuation possible to just be bought?

Thanks.
