Hey everyone 👋
A few days ago I posted here about how most founders don’t track competitor pricing until it’s too late.
After that (and a bunch of conversations on Reddit + X), I realized I was slightly wrong about something.
I assumed the problem was that people don’t track competitors enough.
But it’s not that simple.
It’s more like:
Founders don’t have the bandwidth to track competitors continuously.
So it becomes reactive by default.
Most only check when:
• they’re updating pricing
• a deal is lost
• or something feels off
Which means important changes often go unnoticed until it’s already too late.
The shift in thinking for me:
Maybe the goal isn’t better tracking.
Maybe it’s removing the need to think about tracking at all.
Curious if this matches your experience:
Do you actively track competitors, or is it mostly reactive?
