I waste months building wrong things in Trackfolio

When I start to build Trackfolio I think too much about the future. I spend many weeks creating complicated login system, designing big database for all kind of assets, coding complex math for returns and even paying ads before people can try the app.

But nobody care. Users come, they cannot see value fast, and they leave. I realize I make backend perfect but without something to show quickly the work is useless.

Later I change. I add guest mode with three fake assets. Now new user open and already see portfolio with charts, dividends and profit and loss. No need email. If they like, they connect email later.

This small change take two days only. It should be the first thing I do. Lesson for me is simple: build small and show value fast. Do not prepare too much for future when no user is here yet.

This week I'm working on a networth simulator, I think that'll bring more value people.
