Hello everyone, my name is Mark. I am a software developer with experience in marketing and have been running a profitable software business for 3 years.
Currently, I am very busy expanding the marketing of my product and for this, I have to get in touch with a lot of potential contacts and outreaching them by mail.
In principle, it is always my concern to write and respond as individually and personally as possible to each (cold) recipient. Yet I do not want to lose sight of the campaign, as well as the progress of my efforts (and if they lead toward my marketing goals).
Solutions that are connected to the common email clients (Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.) provide more frustration than an iterative and success-oriented process. Especially when follow-ups are to be sent across multiple campaigns.
I am familiar with basic email marketing tools like Mailchimp and consorts (and I use them for targeted email marketing as well), but they are only moderately suitable for my project:
My wish is
This would allow me to quickly get individual leads from a large number of potential contacts into a direct negotiation.
I would also like to use "light CRM" functions to manage my contacts, avoid duplicates, and everything else that makes the heart of a marketer beat faster - but the focus should remain to the essential goal of the app.
Contacts should be able to be divided into mailing lists, which I can manage depending on a campaign or project.
Similar approaches already exist as (successful and highly demanded) SaaS products. In principle, I already like some of them very much and they look promising for my purposes. However, I somehow miss "the fast access from the daily business" - email clients still run natively on most computers for good reasons.
So my current idea is to develop a desktop application (mac, linux, windows), which enables exactly the described vision, because of my own needs and because there is nothing similar yet. I plan to develop a "mail client for outreach campaigns", so to speak.
My thought is also that it could be interesting not only for marketers, link builders, and so on. This would be interesting also for a variety of business operators in different industries. The use cases that arise from the app are numerous.
Furthermore, the topic of data protection is becoming more and more important - if the data is stored locally on my premises, I don't have to worry so much about external service providers / SaaS storing email addresses or contact data.
Since I am currently very much in my thoughts with this idea, I wanted to try to get feedback from the community: What do you think?
I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks so far!
Mixing a CRM + Cold-Email-tools with a Mail app sounds 🔥
But making a good mail app is already very hard. And extending it to be a great CRM at the same time is probably utopian. But it would be worth the try, I guess. I would use it.
