In Command - An educational newsletter to help improve your terminal skills πŸ‘©β€πŸ’»πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’»

Hey IH!

I'm thinking of starting an educational newsletter to help developers improve their skills in the terminal. Here's the landing page:

In Command Landing Page

I'm a mobile developer by trade, and I spend a fair amount of time in the terminal to help facilitate my daily workflow. But for years I've avoided focusing on improving my command line skills, and I've skirted by on bare essential surface-level knowledge. I tend to spend time learning things more pertinent to mobile development, and find it hard to devote time strictly to improving my proficiency in the terminal.

This has gone on long enough, I want to improve my skills and be confident using the terminal in front of my coworkers and other devs!

So the idea with the newsletter is to send a quick and easily digestible lesson every week. Each lesson will describe how to tackle a practical scenario you might run into as a developer, like getting the timestamps of all instances of a crash within a set of log files, or finding the 3 biggest source files in your project.

I don't want to just post arcane one-liners for people to copy and paste (and forget), and I'm not planning to get too deep into the world of scripting. I just want to create an easy way for people to improve their terminal skills without having to devote a lot of time to it.

I'm thinking of focusing on Bash as it's what I use, but if this sounds useful to you and you use something other than Bash, definitely let me know!

I'm trying to gauge interest for something like this. Does this sound valuable to you? Go ahead and signup!

Have any feedback or suggestions? I'd love to hear it!

Thanks!
