Hosted the 2nd Indie Hackers meetup for Detroit in Bar Louie at Michigan Avenue previous Thursday at 6:30 pm. Attendance was low this time around as only 1 other person showed up @BrandonVeth but we made the best of it.
Things we discussed in the meetup:
- Our goals as Indie hackers
- Products we are currently working on and planning to work on
- How we can validate ideas and build MVPs
- Tools & resources we are using
- Areas where we could improve or/and need help with
It was great meeting Brandon as both of us are working full-time in the industry and looking build profitable side projects.
As an organizer, there's definitely a lot of improvement I need to make in order to improve attendance and foster a vibrant maker community in Detroit. Here's what I am looking to do for next months meetup:
- Promote the meetup early and often. Only sent out 1 tweet for this meetup 3 days prior
- Ask co-workers that are working on side projects to join
- Reach our to prolific makers near Detroit and ask if they will be willing to host office hour or AMA session
- Include google hangout option for those who can't physically make it
- Reach out to @csallen and ask if he would be willing to do an office hour for our Detroit meetup
- Take ownership of the meetup page for Indie Hackers Detroit

Was an awesome time! Thanks for your work on this @sibrah18. The next one will be even better. I like the follow up notes.
Thanks Brandon, looking to do this for all the future meetups from here on out. I will send out a quick summary of what was discussed and resource links that were brought up in the meetup (if any).
Glad to find there's something going on out here. I'll try and make the next one if I'm in town.
We will be here :)
