Currently prepping our V2.0 launch of OpinionX on Product Hunt (for next week hopefully).
When we did our original launch, we went live at the usual 12:01am PST (8am GMT) time, as is often said to be the right time to launch. A few companies had launched ahead of us and had 20-60 votes at 12:01am, helping them sit high on the list early in the day and putting us on the back foot to get organic traffic/votes. That back foot pushed us to over-leverage our personal networks, which ended up downranking us loads due to votes from direct traffic and new PH sign-ups.
Is the 12:01am PST idea not relevant anymore? If you launch before 12:01am do you get a full 24 hours on the site? Does anyone actually know this or is it all black-boxed?
Would love to hear any opinions or observations :)
Still totally relevant and definitely the right move. You can always go directly for 00:00:00 on that same day. Just be sure you engage your audience when you launch, since they are already signed up you shouldn't have a problem with the algo since they are existing users!
If you have upcoming page subscribers that is also another source you could tap into besides your regular socials
