Is review exchange between makers ethical — or a bad habit in disguise?

I recently launched a few Chrome extensions and started getting occasional DMs from other makers offering to exchange reviews.

At first I was skeptical — but honestly, I’m happy to do it as long as it’s based on real usage and honest feedback.
If I install and try your tool and it’s genuinely useful, I’ll leave a good review. If not — I’d rather send a private message with suggestions than leave a harsh rating.

To me, it feels like a fair way to help each other in the early stages — like user interviews with a mutual benefit.
