Hello IH,
I joined IH sometime back and I am loving how each one of you provide feedback and help each other grow together. This is my first post here and I am seeking your advice on below:
I have been thinking of an idea since last couple of days and I thought of asking you guys if its worth pursuing.
Its a SaaS for startups to help them provide a single platform for basic things that almost every startup needs, viz.:
-Blog
-Knowledge base
-Product Videos
-Newsletters
-Report an issue( kind of a widget for site users)
I know there are point solutions available for each or may be a combination of them but none i believe that covers all in a single platform( I may be wrong, pls let me know if its not so :)). I know its going to be a long journey and i dont plan to build all first and then launch. I might pick one at a time and launch and gather feedback.
What do you think, Is it worth going after? Would you buy a product like this? I would love as honest an opinion as possible. Better to get as harsh a feedback now than repent later when I have spent all my time and money in to it :).
Look forward.
Hey, I like the idea of bundling these days. I spend days to find different stacks, then evaluate and then decide. Takes away a slice of my time and it would be better if everything is in one place, made possible by a quality app.
I have seen @scottramsay building something similar, so maybe you can give him some healthy competition.
My opinion: Spend as little money (especially money, don't take them out at all) and time as possible. Just a sketch or Figma prototype is enough these days while on the early build.
All good points. We are indeed up and running with a similar idea at http://astrolahq.com - It's been loads of work to get here. My goals for 2021 is to market specific sections of the app and onboard our other features like you mentioned in point 4 :)
@scottramsay @Dinakar Glad to know about Astrola. Feels gr8 knowing we have fellow IH already there and doing that. Certainly gives me confidence that there is a market out there. As Competition = Market , so first item in checklist strikes off :). Sure there is pie for everyone out there and we would learn from each other( me more since you are already 2 step ahead :))
Thanks a lot @Dinakar for your valuable inputs. Truly appreciate the same!
Just a question on the prototype thing, I know it can help in getting early beta sign ups on a landing page. But beyond that people expect something soon else the hype fizzes out too soon. Should not it be an MVP than just a prototype?
Both are fine actually. It comes down to what you want to do.
If you want to validate before even touching code, then make a sketch and get it out to your prospective users. Many successful projects were only computer generated images/videos when they were first shown to the world.
If you want to give your visitors the real feel of the app, make an mvp and ship that.
You can also do both, like ship prototype now and ship mvps whenever it's ready. This way you'll have their interest in the first wave with sketch, when that starts fading you can show us your MVP and keep it going.
Sure, many thanks!👍🙏
