I kinda wish it was.
According to my ultimate design...
I'd love a single feed with all of my rss blog articles and podcasts.
Oh, and that email thing needs to all but go away. Email is just html and styling, so let an https api transport the content from you to me, not email protocols. Only if I subscribe to your content of course.
I suppose we should have SOME way of receiving email; so when I signup for your service at example.com, allow me to receive email at username@example.com but throw it in a separate area in the app.
Feed - RSS content, and HTML messaging via APIs
DMbox - DMs of course!
Other - Dumping grounds for username@example.com
Like a universal opt-in inbox...
"One-stop shopping", as they used to say.
Well, why not? (he wondered, wonderingly)
Surely somebody (lots of somebodies, in fact?) is/are already doing something like that?
After all, 'unified messaging' has been 'a thing' for a long time.
But is anybody doing it well?
Lots of possibilities - variations on a single theme - with harmony and counterpoint to fill in the voids...
Well, I have heard something in meta verse that you can get notified inside your virtual world like a message. For me that looks like a future of messaging.
