Is too much no-code harder than code?

I love using no-code tools. Even as a developer I prefer not to build if I can get away with an existing tool. But recently I've seen many non-technical friends struggle with their no-code stack as the workflow they are trying to build gets more and more complicated. In some cases it's harder than writing plain old code.

So I've thought about a low-code as a service, kind of like custom coded Zapier, and put together a website as tinyapp.io. I'll be developing the workflow and running it manually for now and plan to build the app in time.

What do you think? I'd love to know if you've faced similar use cases.
