Hi hackers!
I've just launched Dupple (https://dupple.com), a free community platform for startups & projects that allows you to centralize engaging discussions, events, feedbacks - in one place, under your own brand.
I've seen a lot of founders here talking about building communities for their projects, and this is exactly what the tool is made for, so I thought it might interest some of you.
Looking for feedbacks & suggestions :)
I like the pricing—finally, something that would actually scale with me. It wasn’t entirely clear to me that Community == Demo
For the feature and bug pages, it’d be nice to have the sensible defaults of sort = popularity && tag = "planned" | "in progress" | "backlog"
Community is both a demo and our actual... community ; what do you think would be better?
For the pricing, yeah the main idea is to have something that really scales with you, without a huge jump in price (for some competitors like tribe or circle there's really an enormous gap between each plan).
For features and bug pages, nice suggestion, we will add this on monday!
Hard to say, I mostly skim so I totally missed the small “Check our demo” text.
I also expected “Get Started - it's free!” to let me create my own community / group, not redirect to your community for Dupple.
Sweet!
Yea! Looking back again, I guess I’m wondering, why are domains in the Pro plan? $240/yr for that is a bit much. Anyway
Good catch! It was supposed to redirect you to the community creation form and not our community, I just fixed it.
For the domains, and particularly the subdomains, the issue is that if they are in the free plan and Dupple is successful, there might be a shortage of "good" subdomains.
Also we think it adds more value to the pro plan, and paying for it means that if you stop paying, it can be used by someone else.
I do quite a lot of design work, so really these tidbits of feedback are just the tip of the iceberg 😂
Ideally, Dupple is always linked to another domain, no? Otherwise you’d have seo penalties from duplicate content on Dupple vs dupple.mydomain.com (unless you set the canonical url). I would probably want to disable the Dupple subdomain entirely.
It also penalizes joining on the free plan, as I would have to deal with setting up redirects, seo penalties, etc. vs just pointing my domain to it.
It’s the sole reason I won’t be signing up for Drupple today 😅
I’m not saying don’t charge for it. I’m just saying that maybe there’s a gap between $0/yr and $240/yr for that one feature. It’d be cheaper to spin up a digital ocean droplet for Discourse, no?
For now on Dupple you cannot use your own domain, but this is something that is on our roadmap.
Well if your community grows, you'll have to switch to a more expansive solution + update the software behind it, which regarding dupple we will handle for you with no increase in price.
Maybe we could modify the pricing so that you pay a pro plan for let's say 10$/month (with no team member) and then you'll have to pay for each team member a fixed price. What do you think of this?
Anyways if it's still to high we plan to launch a LTD (appsumo contacted us) that will be much more interesting, so if you're interested I can send you a link once it's live :)
Yea, you’re almost doing that already. Your team plan is $20/month for 3 team members ($7/month for more). So, just start at one team member and charge for more members.
Please do! Send me a link to your campaign when you launch 😄 I can also trade detailed design and user feedback if you’re interested
That’d be really great to see. Anyway, keep up the great work—so far so good!
Hey, I forgot to ask: do you have an email address to contact you? 😄
Hey Rifal, nice one, definitely gonna check this!
I do think there's a lack of community platforms for startups (except slack & co), so it's always nice to see there's a bit of new ideas in this space.
Yep, I totally agree with you ; I hope the tool helps!
