Launch on Reddit

Hey, I've built a discord community with almost 500 members without a demo website or product through mostly reddit in anticipation for an upcoming launch, so I can provide some advice.

FYI, my product is an AI API that allows you to run various AI models we have hosted on the cloud. We're almost done our Stable Diffusion (art generator) AI and we're planning on releasing a text gen API next.

So the main strategy is NOT to "post", but rather to comment. Posts may get removed and you may get banned for self promo, but comments are much less likely to get the same treatment due to being far less disruptive.

So how do you self promo with comments? The key is to offer something relevant first, and to tie self promote into it.

The best way to do this is to find "problem comments" or posts. These are queries by people usually whining or having issues with something. You'll want to sympathize with their problems first, and essentially echo and agree with their thoughts.

Then at the end, you have a small blurb about your product as a solution to their problems. You can do what I did, and direct them to a pre-launch community, or you can direct them directly to your product if it's built.

I'll give an example:

So people using OpenAI products are frequently frustrated by the amount of censorship filters. Usually, I'll post under their comments "yea this filter is annoying gives example of time when I was filtered and makes some predictions about OpenAI in the future"

"Also, if you're curious, I'm self promote discord"

And that usually works very well.

Please note that due to the release of ChatGPT, there has been an enourmous surge in these subreddits, so my results may not echo yours.

Some subreddits have weekly pinned posts that allow promotion (in comments). You can try with those.

I post video of my product in relevant subreddit. If people are interested then they will comment and/or find it.

Or post your product description and link asking for feedback. This works too.
