Launched A Site Like ProductHunt for Open Source Code

Hi everyone, I'm experimenting with launching a side site that will hopefully lead people to the main site. It's a product hunt clone called git hunt
Have you guys had success building side sites that drive traffic or feed in to a funnel on your main site?
Also this was my first experience building something with #nocode and damn did I enjoy not having to write code and getting something online.
I could use a little help with people submitting some initial open source repos on there if anyone has a moment

It feels like you have to do too much work to submit a link. Maybe you can automate getting the logo, images, etc.
More importantly, what is the benefit that a user receives from submitting links? I've never submitted anything to producthunt or reddit because I've never understood what I would get out of it.

But it seems like the majority of links that are submitted to these sites aren't submitted by the owner of the link who is probably the only person who would benefit from the attention. And I'm not 100% but I don't think people submit affiliate links since it would become super spammy..and the links are usually news articles, other than PH.
My question is, how does submitting links to other random sites benefit me for submitting the link?
I guess Reddit has gamification but what about all the other sites including githunt? Is it for some type of social cachet like I'm cool or smart because I found this awesome content?

I was literally thinking about doing a #nocode product hunt-like site earlier today. Got any pointers or things you would do differently?
I'm not affiliated with any of the below but this is what I did:
Signed up for https://bubble.is and paid their $16 a month for the ability to have a custom domain
Went to https://bubble.is/templates and search "product hunt"
Picked a template and bought a domain. The whole thing took under an hour to launch and cost under $200.
I'm sure it will bite me in the ass if it actually takes off but so far I'm ecstatic about not having had to write any code. Apparently, one of the default pages on the theme I bought was a dashboard where everyone could see all the users email addresses so I got some shit for that but it was an easy fix. Other than that no complaints yet.

Nice one. I wouldn't waste your work by throwing this straight up. It might catch on but it also ... might not.
Couple of steps I'd take before launching.
If you try and get 50 people signed up before. When you launch to Product Hunt you'll have so much better momentum. Product Hunt multiplies current momentum. You can then email them all saying you're live etc ...
So just try and get some momentum going before you launch. What you're doing on IH is good. You've already sucked me in and I'm ready to support the project ... But you want to be doing this on 5 other big forums as well. Also, share your progress as Indie Hacker Milestones. They're a good way of getting traffic.
I'm putting together a pretty extensive guide into "How to launch to Product Hunt" ... should be out today / tomorrow.
Also, asking for help is all well and good but you could submit repos yourself. Or ask a couple of friends to make accounts and get them to submit repos. Or tell me a good repo to submit and I'll make an account and submit it. People need spoonfeeding. Or just make 5 dummy accounts yourself and fill up the board yourself. EVERY DAY!
In the early days nothing comes easy. @csallen used to have a bunch of placebo accounts which he posted on as the forum. Very few things start by magic ...

Just edited the post (added a few paragraphs) with some more haha! Essentially, you can get repos on their every day. You just need dummy accounts. And there's nothing wrong with that.
What is submitting repos?

I used https://bubble.is/home for this one. I bought a template for $150 and had this site up and running in an hour.
