Every platform assigns you an identity based on your browsing. That identity shapes what you see on the web, your feed, your recommendations, your
ads, videos, even your prices. You never opted in to it, and there's no "edit profile" button for what the internet and others thinks you care about.
I built Mirrormask to counter that. It's a native macOS app that reveals the interest profile platforms have built about you, then reshapes it by browsing as someone else entirely and updating those signals.
Pick a persona. MirrorMask browses as that person across Google, YouTube, Facebook, Reddit, shopping websites.. The algorithms update.
Your digital identity and algorithmic bubble shifts. You can literally watch interests appear and disappear from your profile.
This is not about blocking ads or hiding from trackers. It's about choosing what the algorithms reflect back. Algorithmic curation and independence.. on your terms.
The pitch that resonated most in testing: "You didn't build your algorithmic identity. Now you can."
Another great side effect of this app is being exposed to new interests and subjects.
