Hi everyone,
I recently launched my Kickstarter for BAOYA — a Ghanaian cocoa & baobab superfood drink focused on clean, sustained energy (no sugar crash).
Before launch, I built around 237 followers through pre-launch efforts. I expected at least some momentum from that, but so far I’ve only converted 9 backers.
This makes me question a few things:
What I’ve done so far:
What I’m trying to figure out now:
Here’s the campaign:

I’d really appreciate honest feedback — especially from anyone who has launched or worked on campaigns before.
Thanks in advance 🙏
I know a couple of Kickstarter campaign founders who might be willing to answer your questions for free, happy to forward them if you'd like.
237 followers to 9 backers is about a 3.8% conversion rate. That's actually within the normal range for Kickstarter pre-launch lists — most benchmarks put it at 2-5% for followers acquired through ads. The problem isn't your conversion rate. It's your base.
The hard truth about Kickstarter pre-launch followers: "Notify me" is the lowest-commitment action on the internet. Especially when acquired through Meta ads, where people click through out of mild curiosity and never think about it again. The followers you actually want are people who gave you their email AND replied when you asked them what flavor they'd prefer.
What typically drives early Kickstarter momentum:
The first 48 hours matter more than anything else. Kickstarter's algorithm promotes projects that hit funding milestones fast. If you can get to 30% funded in the first 24 hours, organic discovery starts working for you.
For a physical food product, your highest-conversion channel isn't Meta ads. It's letting people taste it. Even 50 people at a local market who scan a QR code to your Kickstarter will convert better than 500 ad-driven page follows.
Have you individually messaged (not group-posted) the 20 people most likely to back? A personal DM converts at 10-20x the rate of a social media post.
The campaign isn't dead at 9 backers. But the path forward is probably direct engagement over more cold traffic.
