Let's Be Honest. Vibe Coded Websites Look Horrible. So Let's' Fix That Shall We?
I hate the look of vibe coded websites, but don't we all?
During the early days of the "vibe coding" movement, I was amazed at the websites and mobile apps that could be created in mere minutes with the new advancements in AI. I mean who wasn't at the time?
Projects that otherwise would have taken weeks to design, build and deploy, could now be created end-to-end in a single sitting thanks to platforms like Lovable, Bolt, among others.
But that fascination didn't last. I started seeing the same "habit tracker app" created 100 different times and the worst part? They all looked the same! Blue to purple gradients, lucide icons, hero sections with no flavor. The list goes on and on and I'm sure many of you know exactly what I'm talking about.
So it got me thinking, "can vibe coding and beautiful UI not coexist?" So I got to work. Testing every pipeline, every workflow, every model, to see if there was a way to achieve the fabled promiseland of "vibe designing".
And after a couple of months, I did it. It wasn't perfect, but wow were we close. The designs that I was creating with AI seemed so far ahead of what other tools were capable of (at least in my opinion). All unique, full of personality, and the best part: the prompts could be as simple or as complex as you wanted, staying true to the "vibes only" virtue.
A week later, I launched the product on Reddit, curious to see other people's opinions on the quality of designs. And to my pleasant surprise, it was overwhelmingly positive. Over 50 thousand views in a day with dozens of people DMing me and commenting about how shocked they were by it's quality. It was so motivating.
So now here I am, committed to making the world's greatest AI UI Design tool in AIDesigner. It's been an incredible journey so far and can't wait to continue sharing.

I think in 10 years we will recognize a definite 2024-2025 style in webpages, like we now recognize millennium-era webpages. There were some good design trends around 2023 that got amplified by LLM training so much that now everything has the same colors and emojis everywhere. Also, surprisingly many webpages are a bit broken, even for technical projects. Some easy-to-fix stuff.
GenAI is still great though. You can push with it for things in the afternoon that could otherwise take a few weeks to learn and tweak. Like some SVG animations for the webpage, for example.
I've also been using AI to build prototypes lately, and yeah, I totally get the frustration with the "template look."
What actually surprised me is that the functional side works pretty well most of the time — the generated code is usable, flows make sense, no major complaints there. But once you start thinking about personality or brand feel, things get pretty flat. No matter what you're building, it somehow ends up looking like the same generic SaaS dashboard.
It feels like the hard part now isn't code generation anymore, but how we communicate design intent to these tools. Curious how AIDesigner tackles that.
Yeah, that's the exact problem we're trying to solve! Our goal is to allow users to NOT have to give a giant complex prompt to the AI for it to build what they want. We want to push AI to inherently understand what the user wants without them having to spell it out.
This is a great example of why Reddit works when it’s done right. You didn’t “launch” you showed up with taste, context, and real value, and the market pulled you in. One thing I’ve noticed: those Reddit threads don’t just spike traffic, they rank and keep sending design-aware users long after launch. Curious, are you planning to double down on Reddit as a long-term discovery channel or was this more of an experiment?
Yeah, I think I'll continue to experiment with Reddit as a longer term tactic, but it really depends on the feedback. I've found that Reddit tends to be a one post and stop deal, but the results with Reddit are too good to ignore.
I agree, Reddit only feels “one post and done” when it’s treated like a social feed. When it’s approached as search + intent, those same threads can rank and consistently bring in qualified users for months.

Honestly yeah, vibe coding gets you off your feet, but the final polish and "professional" look you have to do yourself. At least for now.
The Assisted Programmer aka Vibe Coding, has it's place. I believe if an app is made for personal needs, and has long it done the job it's ok. But to put out there in production, that's a different ball game. A non-coder can create an amazing app and put out there something that is insecure and give harsh surprises. And it's true most apps look the same, since most models are trained in the same material. I fear we will lose originality and the market will be flooded with so many apps that one day people will just give up.
