Live Code Streaming Platform - New Idea
Hi IH,
I've had a project idea for a while and thinking whether or not it would be worthwhile looking into as its not really my expertise.
I recently starting live streaming on twitch (twitch.tv/boardy89) as and when I can on the development of my current project Crash Catch.
My idea is creating a platform that is dedicated to live streaming code development at least, or a platform dedicated to streaming anything (within reason) non gaming content).
The reason I thought about this is I felt, although there are a few live coding streams on Twitch, Twitch is primarily a gaming streaming platform, such as is YouTube streaming. Live coding is a bit of a niche so usually only has 10's to 100s of viewers (usually at the lower end) compared to the gaming streamings having 1000s of views so of course they're always going to get promoted on the main page making it difficult for live coders to get any views as their always buried under the gamers on the platform.
Would anyone be interested in this type of platform, if you are a live coding streamer yourself, are you happy using Twitch or YouTube or would you be interested in something like this?
there was a quite good platform called livecoding.tv but it is pivoted to education platform
Ah interesting I guess it didn’t work out for them so took another route.
I think both sides of the market are kind of weak and that's why there isn't a dedicated platform yet
Not much viewer not much producers/streamers
Just chatting is way more popular than coding by a long shot
Even if a dedicated platform would 10x both sides (probably unlikely) I feel you'd still stay with not much, not even having a single stream cover 24/7
I could just be pessimistic but I could reason most coders are reversed in personality from popular streamers
Also within coding streamers most build games that gives something visually interesting and long investment and such and they have interest in building a following for thier upcoming game and having feedback/conversation with an audience
Well maybe I'm saying if you go for it think of them at the main persona? Than maybe you can make it worthwhile for everyone...
