A few thoughts that I hope are helpful.

    1. It helps to be specific. What industry are you targeting. Type of platform (web / mobile). Tech folks come in many shapes and sizes. They aren't just passionate about code, but also passionate about industries, verticals and causes.

    2. It helps to mention what skills you bring and what you've built in the past the makes you an ideal partner to work with. Why are you a good co-founder?

    3. Saw in your intro post that you are offering 10% . That doesn't sound like a cofounder, but a first hire on an already established startup looking for a CTO. The way this sounds is... you are offering someone 10% of a non-existent business, to work for free, in the hopes that one day, they'll reap 10% of whatever profit/exit occurs.

10% would be insulting to most competent developers at your stage, unless:

You are infusing the business with substantial money to start (i..e to hire others, build out infrastructure, marketing, sales). Even then, 30% would seem more reasonable.

    -- or --

Have significant traction and domain-expertise in a compelling vertical.

That said, you may get lucky with a newbie developer who has no/little experience and just wants to get their feet wet and doesn't really care about an exit (they just want experience and projects under their belt).

Cash is king. unless both co-founders are equally passionate about a project and taking (close to) equal equity, then equity is just an excuse for free work. 99 times out of 100, the result of a developer doing this is basically free work that doesn't amount to anything because startups are hard.

    Good luck!
