Looking to collaborate on a language teaching product
Hello, Indie Hackers,
I would like to work on some language teaching tool, that focuses on teaching language seriously, leveraging advantages of online learning and software.
Most of the stuff out that I've seen only really focuses on beginner levels or some very specific areas, e.g. duolingo promotes natural language learning, but doesn't give much context in terms of grammar or language structure, memrise is for learning vocabulary only, fluentu focuses on providing immersion using videos, etc.
I have been missing something text-book like, that would work on improving all of the necessary language skills. Basically it would be like a sort of interactive textbook/workbook.
I would like to find a person who's preferably had experience in teaching languages and would like to brainstorm with me to flesh out a vision, and help with preparing courses, material, or other stuff that might come up.
About me:
I like learning languages, and I'm native in Lithuanian, but know English pretty well and some Spanish that I've learnt on my own. By profession I am a software engineer with 4 years of experience, and have been building web applications for most of my career.

For something textbook like, I like humanjapanese.com?

I found apps like duolingo, memrise, etc is hard to keep using, and don't help that much other than for memorization.
I think the textbook approach makes sense, but it needs to be in context. And usually context comes by short sentences, stories, dialogues, videos. What if we can mix and match something like that?
Just an idea, not sure if this will work or not. For example, start with a sentence that is half english half X (target language) for example. Maybe something like "I read a <book in X language>" and gradually convert that sentence to fully in X language. Then the context becomes bigger, now it is a dialogue between person A and B. Person A speaks english, then replied by person B in X language, then it is fully in X language.
