I always get this thought when I am in a process of ideation or in the process of developing my startup, even if I made it, how will I get customers without spending money on marketing. I really don't have enough money for marketing my product with Google Ads, Facebook Ads, or even paying big influencers huge money to promote it. It feels really demotivating as I can't spend money on marketing like my competitors are doing.
The only thing I feel I can do is to make the best products that would really help my clients, but at the end of the day, don't have a plan on how would I get my clients and really compete with the competition and how to succeed with it.
I would love to hear your thoughts on some strategies I can follow to really succeed with my startup without having money for Marketing :)
In my opinion, if you don’t have a money to spend on paid ads, you have to work harder than your competition. Maybe it is scary to see your competition with a big marketing budget but also it will be your advantage. You have to find different ways how to promote your product.
I would focus on these unpaid channels:
1/ Content marketing and SEO
2/ Social media - Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit
3/ Launching sites - Product Hunt, Hacker News, etc.
4/ If you have good margins you can try affiliates
5/ Also, it depends on your product, but if suitable you can leverage product-led growth
In general, you need to build a good product (for word-of-mouth) and then create quality content around it.
Hope it helps you a little bit.
Not part of the list, but cold outreach would be a big channel. Though if you're doing cold email at any decent scale, you'll have to pay for it (it's much cheaper than paid traffic).
Thank you so much :)
Tbh you shouldn't even be spending money on any paid ads right.
It's much more important for you to boost your conversion rates by figuring out your message, your users and your niche through free marketing (social posts and such)
By doing that you'll make sure that no future paid advertising money is wasted
Thank you so much :)
