Hi, I have a question about merchandise store (in particular stores of Media and news websites, like The New Yorker, NYT, Washington Post).
How do they work?
What about structure and platform?
Most of them are Shopify based, yes. But about logistics? Do you have any complete case study or deep dive to understand them?
Thank you a lot
They work with automatic integration with print-on-demand service providers like Printful. And some people also place the merchandise orders manually on 3rd party print-on-demand websites.
We've first-hand experience in integrating print-on-demand and shipping because we are building https://blinkstore.in which is a merchandise store builder vertically integrated with print-on-demand. It takes away all the hassle of running backend merchandise operations and also of setting up a Shopify.
Blinkstore.in is the complete out-of-the-box package, create your store, design merch, and start selling or ordering.
Here's a blog that can help you understand how print-on-demand works in the backend: https://blinkstore.in/blog/design-and-sell-t-shirts-online-india/ (see the part "How does print-on-demand work").
Hope you find this useful :)
Lots of indie people use services like Printful combined with Shopify, it depends how big the operation is. Usually it is not worth the hassle of stocking stuff unless you are making lots of sales.
Thank you a lot rosiesherry :)
In this way Printful takes care of everything including shipping, right? On the other hand if you have a lot of sales you lose a big % of money due to their fees. Right?
