I've seen a good amount of people say they think Micro-SaaS companies automatically mean super small companies.
I think the niche or focus of your business should be specific but why have it be small?
I believe targeting specific pain points for your audience could be a multi-million dollar business! 🙌🏼
What's your definition? Would love to hear below!
I think the definition of Micro SaaS is less about a specific revenue number or employee count and more about the scope of the business.
To me, a Micro SaaS usually has a narrow customer segment, a focused problem, and a relatively small product and operating team. It doesn't need to be tiny forever, but the business can stay intentionally focused rather than trying to serve everyone.
That's becoming especially interesting with AI SaaS and workflow automation. A solo founder or small team can now automate parts of development, support, marketing, and operations that previously required more resources.
But I'd still judge the business by customer value and retention. A small SaaS with loyal customers and a clear problem can be more durable than a much larger product with weak retention.
Curious how everyone here defines Micro SaaS: team size, revenue, customer count, or simply the scope of the product?
I belive all SaaS companies start out as Micro-SaaS and than grow. AirBNB start as a service only in SF and grew into something so much bigger.
you are totally right!
I love that point of view! Makes a lot of sense
Hey Diego, I've written about this -- What is Micro-SaaS? And why should you care?
Check it out, let me know what you think!
Awesome thanks!
Micro-SaaS solutions are less complicated, quick, cost-effective to build, easier to manage and control, and usually focused on one core function. These businesses fall under the greater SaaS umbrella but cater to a niche market and use a smaller number of resources.
