MVP Feedback

Hello! I am building a platform to help people design their homes without an interior designer. After extensive user discovery research, I have identified 18 key pain points users experience as they shop for their homes.

However, I can't solve these all at once. I am not going the AR/VR route because this solution tries to solve the visualization problem in isolation - when it is part of an ecosystem of pain points users experience.

But, after users discover products and inspiration they want for their homes, many of them create spreadsheets and powerpoints to organize and compare products. I am going to begin building a better version of these solutions.

To start, I have built a rapid prototype using Notion. It is far from perfect and requires a lot of manual work on the user's part, but it does combine the spreadsheet/mood board functionality and allows for easier collaboration (a top pain point).

I'd love general feedback, in addition to:

  1. What is missing? What would need to be here to motivate you to use this?
  2. When was the last time you moved or re-designed your space?

If you'd like to use the prototype, email me at: tenlie@dendwell.com and I'll invite you.

Thank you!

Love it! Btw kudos on the landing page design, so much improvement from that first version :)

    • What is missing? What would need to be here to motivate you to use this?

I really liked the Notion version (really impressed with all the info you put there). I think if that would exist I would definitely use it. Would need an ongoing project though.

    • When was the last time you moved or re-designed your space?

Very seldom. But when I had to this would be the first place where I'll go to. Specially I like the fact I can have a budget, shopping list and more important a place to know where to get things.

I think this app definitely has great potential, if it does what it says it does.

Judging the product from the landing page, the end goal is to have this be an app where you can basically add furniture and create a living room out of scratch right?

I can't see how this could be done without a full engineering team, or at least someone who is extremely proficient in image processing and engineering. Definitely not possible using any no-code solution.

I can see how this could be viable even if you just implemented a smaller feature, where people upload pictures of their space and highlight the items composing of the space, but no one is going to take time of their day to manually highlight every item. You would again, need an engineer to do some image processing and machine learning, to auto find those items, basically reducing any manual labor from the end user.

Thank you for the feedback! The goal of this iteration is more to be a better tracking tool, replacing the spreadsheet and PowerPoint. Eventually, yes the goal will be to be able to actually build a space in 3D, but that's not without a strong brand and community. Solutions exclusively relying on 3D and image processing are missing huge chunks of this problem, and opportunities in the home decor industry as a changing market.

My wife and I just purchased a home and we're looking to do some minor changes (e.g. change out door handles, new faucets, etc.). Right now, we're putting links in a Google Keep note and sharing that with one another. We don't like the current tools out there because they're too 'bloated' for this relatively straight forward project.

I think the issue you're going to face is that this really isn't a recurring model. People don't renovate or update their homes that often. When they do, they may use a tool once or twice then cancel because it won't bring any value after the project is done.

Hi, Thank you so much for your reply! I absolutely hear your point on the recurring model, and have thoughts on how to remedy that. However! Would you be willing to use this product to track your home update? I would be happy to onboard you both, customize it for your needs, and it obviously has no cost associated. I would also be happy to upload your current links into it. I would so appreciate testing with people experiencing this problem firsthand.

Thank you so much for this reply! I really appreciate such in-depth feedback. The vision is to build the all-in-one interior design platform. Though this is a small start, I think the opportunity to fill really meaningful gaps in this massive market is definitely there. Would love to learn more about your companies!
