My next project is taking shape (quicktalks)
A few weeks ago I decided to start yet another project 😅 As opposed to my other projects, I wanted to build and ship something fast and I had a nice idea for it.
I really enjoy watching talks, no matter if it's a TED talk about productivity, or a technical talk from a big conference. And I've also wanted to give a talk someday but I don't see myself in a conference stage (or at least not yet...). So I thought I could build something around that idea.
A site where people can share and find talks that may not fit into a big conference. Focused on quick talks of around 30mins and for small audiences. A few weeks later than I expected I have a first version live: quicktalks.io
To showcase all its features and test that everything works as expected I'm going to be hosting a few talks so feel free to register to attend.
What do you think about the idea? Would you use it to host a presentation or subscribe to receive upcoming talks?

Hi Antonio, very neat idea! I clicked on your upcoming talk and was wondering if you could add a duration to each presentation. That would be pretty cool.
Sure, that's an easy change 😉
I think it can help users decide to register to attend or not.
The idea is that all talks would be around 20-30mins but I'll include an input in the talk creation form so users can introduce how long it'll be and limit the duration there.

Hey Antonio, I thinnk it's agreat idea.
I would thikn about what's the really use case you want to cover and focus there. I say this because even tought it's a great idea to host talks, etc.. if people is not interested, you could build plugins or sinergies for other platforms that you could benefit from, and then focus on the "search" or discover part.
I personally would use it to see what is coming next and If I find something interesting, listen it up.

Thanks for your feedback Victor. I know finding speakers could be difficult and without talks, the project would fail. But at the same time speakers would want to know that there will be people attending... It's the chicken and the egg problem 😅
In any case, I'd try to find those speakers as I think a lot of people would want to share their ideas and with the current situation, all events and conferences are online.
If I don't succeed, I'd always have the option to list events from other platforms as you mention.
