My Real Beginning of Indie Hacking

I learned about Indie Hackers years ago from my brother Max.

One day he told me, "Rob, this is the coolest group ever! You have to join it." And he was right! Tons of people doing the exact same thing we both wanted to do... build companies.

Over the years I've been fortunate to work as a designer at quite a few startups, both funded and bootstrapped Indie style. I always knew I wanted to be in the founding seat, but didn't know which road to take: funded or hacker.

My brother ended up going the funded route, raising money from VCs. He is killing it right now. Crushing. He has an incredible team.

I'm deciding to go the other route: hacking. And man that is such a great word. I really do feel like a hack sometimes.

But I want this to be the start of my journey and I want to document it here on Indie Hackers. Because we are all trying to do the same thing... grow something even though it feels impossible.

And if my story helps people do the same thing... freak that is awesome!
