Hey,
I recently started investing more and more in content and looking to get a grip of "launching" a new article.
So I wanted to ask, what are you guys do when you have a new article up in your site and indexed by Google?
It really depends on the content of the article, who it is for, and how in depth it is.
SEO is a long game that is built on much more than publishing one blog post. To make real gains with SEO, you'll need a strategy which boils down to coordinating your decisions on content towards a goal (more traffic, ranking for a subset of keywords, more organic leads/revenue, etc are common goals).
This means publishing content consistently and intentionally, it's very rare you'll find any major wins with a one-off blog post.
What you are describing here seems more in line with content promotion rather than SEO, in that case, there are many things you can do:
-Import the story into a Medium publication (this will set the canonical URL back to your post).
-Share to relevant communities - the key word here is relevant
-Promote it - this is dependent on your personas, where would they seek this content out? You could promote it on social media, or run a google ads campaign to drive more traffic to it
-Share it in a newsletter - your own or submit it to one that accepts other articles
