My main resolution for 2021 was to make more than $100 teaching online. I co-founded two EdTech companies in the last 5 years, but felt like I got too far away from teaching myself. So this year, I wanted to make sure I got a chance to teach my own course. And to give myself some motivation, I decided to make a simple but effective goal - make at least $100 by selling my course (this was inspired by this tweet https://twitter.com/jackbutcher/status/1252625385860354048).
On the 1st of January at 11:28AM I signed up for Gumroad. Only 9 minutes later at 11:37AM I created the shell of my online course called "Building a succesful EdTech startup". Just 4 minutes later at 11:41 I tweeted the following: https://twitter.com/utdiscant/status/1344957625671290880 and less than 24 hours later I had already made my first $100 in sales π. Now on the evening of the 2nd of January I am at $200 and I have raised the price to $60 per participant.
Lessons so far, both to others and myself:
Edit: It is now the 3rd of January and the course has sold for more than $500 and I increased the price to $100 π.
Hi David. I'm signed up!! I wanted to support your 'get back in touch with the students thing', something I'm doing myself this year too. And it seems like you know your stuff. I only wish I saw this 17 hours earlier :)
Awesome! Looking forward to getting to know you and your company. Raising the price again soon, so at least you joined now ;).
Congratulations David!
Thank you!
