Newsletter advertisement ROI?

Lately I've been exploring new ways to grow that I've not tried before, one of which is Newsletter advertisements. Have any of you tried them as a way of growing? What was your result? Was it worth while?

But it overall comes down to the CTR rate. Number of clicks * $2 or so is a decent math.
