Idea:
-a weekly newsletter where each week you're presented with an real A/B test from a company or product
-you vote on which variant you think will win (you see the results of the votes and comments after voting)
-at the end of the week the real data, results, and analysis are revealed
-keep a leaderboard of how many "right" guesses in a row
The idea would be to feature different companies, products, and types of A/B tests each week.
Thoughts/feedback?
Cool idea! This could also be a website with two versions side by side and people click on the one they like and go to the next one. It could be great training for landing page copywriters and designers.
Totally - A/B tests are fascinating to me but I think also to a broader audience ( Growth, Marketers, Copywriters, designers)
Yes! If you can get that content together, don't even worry about giving away prizes. No need for contests I think. It would be great content that many people would love to read or receive as a newsletter!
Yep - I think that's the tricky part. Convincing my network of founder friends to expose some of their A/B tests in exchange for a bit of free marketing on a brand new newsletter 😁
Would prefer real time.
So you run the ab tests, then we can pick.
To be honest I don't even care about picking just show me a few ab tests.
Yes! Totally agree with you here.
I could see this evolving into a newsletter + website.
Newsletter is a weekly thing with one new A/B test that hasn't been run yet that you get to speculate on.
Then if you go to the website, you can see all previous A/B tests and in order to see which one was the winner, view comments, results, and analysis, you would simply just vote between the variants.
Sound effing fantastic.
I'd suggest it to be daily though.
Thanks @AndrewKamphey! I follow you on Twitter and I recently read your post about Better sheets (congrats on all the success!)
One point I found interesting/insightful was the success you had with increasing your pricing. Now I would never recommend A/B testing on price itself as to not piss of your loyalists haha but I'm sure you've played with variants of how you present your landing page, etc.
If you've got any tests planned or if you'd like to, maybe Better Sheets could be one of our first features 😁 Lemme know if you're interested!
I don't A/B test. I just try to do as much as I can with what I got.
Happy if A/B testing was done for Better Sheets, but I don't really do much nor have the traffic to do much since AppSumo sells the course, and Gumroad as a few stats on the individual sheets.
Totally hear ya - if it ain't broke don't fix it!
I would assume you drive at least a decent amount of traffic through IH, Twitter, YT to your actual landing page (bettersheets.co -hosted on ghost?) - and then onwards to gumroad/appSumo. Are you tracking some of those clickthrough rates with your google analytics?
If you are and have a decent amount of traffic, might be one area to try and tweak -> understand if it's not a priority at the moment. I get nerdy about this stuff and can't help myself.
25 ppl a day?
goes up with some press
Hmm yeah that's pretty low to do anything statistically significant haha. But stats aside, if you're not getting any conversions even with that semi-organic traffic, it might be worth thinking about a change!
I'd be happy to help with a landing page design out, if it ever becomes more of a priority for ya.
