- Playing "The Long Game" encourages you to sacrifice short-term wins for long-term success. When it comes to investing your hard-earned money, this means buying and holding shares of stocks in companies for a long period of time (typically five years or more).
- But what does it mean to play the long game as a Maker?
- For me personally, it means investing time in things that provide value and can potentially have a positive large-scale impact whether or not I see the fruits of my labor right away.
- Playing the long game also allows you to be authentic. To carve out your corner of the internet. To create a Personal Monopoly.
- When you play the long game, you're not chasing money, trends, or things that don't really interest you with the hope of striking it rich.
- Respect, attention, an audience, are not the reasons why you create. They're potential rewards for creating and sharing consistently.
- You create to feed your soul.
- The long game ties nicely into the concept of Consistency over Intensity. It requires you to focus on building good habits. To develop a routine.
- Why does consistency matter?
- The more consistent you are at creating, the more opportunities you'll have to learn what your audience cares about the most.
- Consistency compounds over time. The more often you create, the better you get. The more often you share, the more feedback you receive. The more engagement you'll have.
- The more content you have to offer the world, the greater your chances are of captivating the world. Writing and learning in public I believe is the single most impactful activity I can participate in. I wish I would have realized this earlier on in life. #Lessons
