One More Time?

It has been a while since I visited this place. I think I am burning out at my dayjob. Not because it is high stress but because of lack of control on my time and my work.

This post is going to be a bit of rambling. Trying to get my thoughts organized a bit.

Anyways, I will probably quit my day job in Q1 or Q2. In meantime, I need to figure out what I will do after I quit my job. Unfortunately, I have a lot of interests, so it makes it hard to focus on one thing.

My goal is to create freedom to do things that I want to do, whenever and wherever I want to do those things. Products business would be ideal for this.

A few options:

1. Consulting while I work on my product ideas. SaaS/apps will be part of my portfolio for my consulting agency. Sort of follow Basecamp model. Probably will need to specialize in one tech stack, debating between, Laravel, django, React/Nodejs, Electronjs, Flutter, Python/R(Data Science).

I got experience with Laravel and React/Node. Currently, my projects at work are in Nodejs ecosystem but I love Laravel.

Electronjs and Flutter - because I am tired of managing servers and reading about security breaches. I want to bring back local storage. There are so many apps that should run locally, without paying monthly fees, and putting your data in the cloud. Also with this approach, I don't have to worry about GDPR. Though harder to sell desktop application and harder to predict cashflow.

My current hobby is Data Science and especially algo trading related projects. So Django is another choice for web projects but really focus on Data Science.

2. I have Real Estate License. Go hard on it and work on my product ideas. Product ideas can be related to real estate, so everything ties in. I enjoy meeting people and love exploring our city. In consulting, I can get tied to one client for too long and lose my freedom. Real estate should be short engagements with each client.

3. Tutor while I work on my apps. For this, I might live code on Twitch.tv. There is high demand of tutors but not really scalable. In consulting and Real Estate, you can hire people easily but tutoring seems so hard to scale. Also do people really need tutors? I can grow business by setting by group training.

4. Content creation while working on apps - I have built apps before but they went nowhere because I didn't know how to market. It seems the easiest way to learn how to market and grow audience is start a blog. Of course, this will not bring immediate checks like other options. But this is something I should do anyways. Even if I am just doing consulting, I should do a blog in order to get business or establish authority. Podcast is another option.

Ok so my goal is to generate semi-passive income with products but I am just not able to quit job without some money coming in. I got some savings but not really enough. That is why I have to wait a few months before I can quit my day job.

Now that I wrote this down, I think, I should sleep on it.
