OSaas - Open Startup as a Service - An Idea
Dear IH,
the open startup/build in public movement is in full swing. Many IndieHackers are openly sharing not only revenue but also traffic stats, expenses, growth metrics, and much more.
I thought about how to best implement this for my own upcoming projects and found this to be quite a lot of work 🚧
Mainly I'd focus on integrating metrics from the following categories:
💰Financials (Stripe, Chargebee, Braintree,...)
🚦Traffic & Engagement (GA, Heap, Plausible,...)
👪Social Media (Twitter, FB, Insta,...)
💻Tech (Server Stats, Uptime, Security,...)
and then expose them (or a subset thereof) as a public URL for everyone to see.
There are certainly more interesting KPIs, but those are the ones that I could come up with quickly.
Instead of publishing the stats for my own project, I thought that a plug-and-play solution for other IHs might be a good idea in and itself.
Questions:
- Would you use such a service?
- Why would you/wouldn't you?
- What would you'd like to see from such a platform?

I think it's an interesting idea, but as a scrappy bootstrapping startup founder, I have a hard time imagining that I'd pay for it...
There is tolta by dr. Seems like it's acquired and the buyer didn't even bother change a single thing, not even the signature. 🤷♂️
Considering his popularity at that time, he managed to pull 2 paying customers? 🤷♂️🤷♂️

I didn't mean to disprove. I feel like it's more about the execution and early adopters.

Hard for the to say tbh. I think this is a fairly easy thing to solve so I don't think I would spend money on that. However, building this maybe as a whole directory and community within could be really cool!

Hi Sunny, thanks for your ideas. It's surely easy to build but it takes time nevertheless 😎 Going by the attention this post has gotten, I'd say that this idea is a non-issue though.
I'm not super keen on sharing all my information for SparrowStartup.com. So far, I've been okay sharing details of my Stripe dashboard with a few select friends, but beyond that I'm not sure I'd be super comfortable! :)
