Outreach tip you’ve never seen before

Tired of being ghosted? Try being insecure!

Instead of the usual “following up, circling back” type of follow-ups, use these instead:

  • “Just making sure we're still on good terms?"

  • “Blink twice if you’re still interested.”

  • "At this point, I'm following up for emotional closure."

  • "Just tell me if you've found another SaaS. I can take it."

  • "Please just let me know you're alive"

  • "I hope you're just busy and not avoiding me specifically."

We got a lot of sign-ups for the free pilots we offered early on for our tool. But some early clients ghosted us initially. I sent a “Did I upset you? :(“ email, and most of them replied. “Sorry, I got busy…”, “It slipped my mind”, "I've been meaning to get back to you."

So don’t be afraid to sound needy or insecure. Trying to be professional feels less personal and just makes you sound like the sales agents they get every day. Being desperate makes you memorable!

I'm kidding... mostly...

😄 I laughed at "I'm following up for emotional closure."

Jokes aside, I think the reason this works is because it breaks the pattern. Most follow-up emails sound like they came from the same template, so people mentally filter them out. A little personality makes the sender feel like an actual person instead of another sales email.

That said, I guess it depends on the relationship. Used at the right moment, it can be memorable. Used too early, it might confuse people. Finding that balance is probably the real skill.

This was a fun read. The "I'm following up for emotional closure" line genuinely made me laugh. Humor definitely helps you stand out, but I think it works best when you've already built some rapport. I've noticed the same principle applies in SEO and content outreach—people respond better to authentic messages than copy-paste templates. I try to use that approach when promoting content for my apk-bitlife. com site as well. A little personality goes a long way, as long as it still feels genuine.

Love it, turns out a little emotional desperation is the ultimate pattern interrupt for a crowded inbox!
