Page Views is a Vanity Metric For Job Boards

Page views isn't that important. It's the "top of funnel" metric that doesn't tell you how effective a job board is for both sides of the market: engineers and the startups they apply to.

Since launch, I've gotten about 1k page views. Not bad I guess.

Today I soft launched "Technology pages", like react jobs or nextjs jobs on Twitter.

Both pages got a fair amount of traffic, much more than I was expecting. Maybe about 100 page views between both. But no applies.

I could be getting bot'ed.

But I could be optimizing for the wrong business metric (more likely).

Realistically, people will apply to more jobs if I can deliver them information that a list of jobs is a good bet to take. Applying, getting ghosted/rejected, actually interviewing, takes a lot of time. So the problem I'm facing now is, how do I show people that X job is worth their time to apply to?

I also built a public dashboard to keep track of my progress - Techstackjobs Metrics if you're curious.
