I like the design of a dashboard, but you should have a separate homepage for new visitors. Just a simple hero section with a one-liner explaining what you do, and a call to action.
Marketing idea: Focus on a small niche and have calls related to the interests of those people. As you grow, you will naturally broaden topics.

That's a good strategy. You already have a certain type of people. Market to other people who fit that type. Once they create a community on your platform, they will bring other people without you even asking.

I landed on the page and after 15sec still didn't really understand what it was for... so I think some form of half-landing page or heading would be worth it on your site!
