Pivot, Kill or Persevere?

I've spend 20 days creating a project. I was quite excite about the ideas. It was:

A diary to describe your day visually only (using emojis).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trackerion&hl=en

It was fun.

After 20 days of coding I've created an app that does NOT excites me.

Were you in a similar situation? Should I kill the project? How can I extract maximum value from killing it?..

I think it's a neat idea first of all. I believe mood tracking is a trending subject, and although some mood tracking apps offer correlation of emoji to mood, there may be room for one that focuses on just the emoji part.

I guess the question is, why does it not excite you now? Is there something you are willing to solve by money?

    Like:
design is lacking -> commission a designer
people aren't using it -> spend on marketing it

Not saying these are problems your app has, I'm just asking :-)

My situation on an emoji-related subject, I was thinking of starting an emoji-themed challenge for artists. Like, every week an emoji is your "constraint" and you have to shoot a picture based on its theme.

To my surprise I found there was nothing, not even emojipedia, to pick the official emoji of the day, or week, or month! So I built it!

    https://emoji-of.com/

Building this was fun, but of course nobody is gonna use it, or leverage it to create emoji-based challenges like I wanted to do at the start. So I'm wondering, do I focus on it and create a platform or app that wraps it myself? Try to link it with instagram and try to build the challenge there?

Twitter integration was easy, but it doesn't seem as natural as Instagram; but Instagram is more controlling and convoluted with its API so... I'm not excited to try the potential paths forward I can think of right now.

So, not as useful an anecdote I'm afraid, I guess I'm just waiting for a weekend where the excitement to push forward with that project will come! If not, that's fine as I didn't see this as my exit strategy by any means so I'm not willing to just work through the not-that-exciting paths.

I belive I got lost sense of who is my audience and who would be interested in using this app.
