Planning then building?
Normally I jump into making projects and end up with a domain graveyard. I'm hoping this time is different.
I've been making a list in Notion (over the past month or so) of potential startup ideas. Today I've been doing some initial idea validation against criteria such as:
- does X have an element of 'built-in virality'
- problem frequency
Are there any other ways to self-validate ideas?
How long do Indie Hackers usually spend in the planning/validating phase?
If you have an idea, and you believe it can solve a problem - validate it immediately.
Talk to people, reach out to them and if you see there could be a market, start with a MVP.
Don't create lists over lists of ideas. Use the time to validate the first idea that comes to your mind.
What I would add to this is that once you start working on one idea, things will start to happen. If the idea works out, then that's great. If it doesn't, then you will most likely have learnt some useful skills in the process and the act of working on a project will have probably inspired some other ideas too.
