Podcasters of IH - How do you handle the editing process?

I just finished editing an episode of the IH podcast literally 20 seconds ago! My process is pretty simple:

• Get the guest's local recording (always have them make a local one) and put it on it on track in Adobe Audition.
• Go through the episode, leaving markers with notes for things I want deleted or fixed. Those are for my editor later. I also do lots of editing myself. I'll delete boring back-and-forths, and often re-record speaking turns that I think sound bad or came out wrong. This last part takes forever and I don't recommend it. 😇
• Put the entire Adobe Audition folder in Google Drive and share it with my actual editor, who splices in the intro/outro music, who makes the edits in my markers and any other edits he feels are important, and who works his magic to improve the sound quality.
• Give it a final listen myself, (very rarely) make last minute deletions.

Unlike most podcasters who have people record their own track, I use SkypeMP3 Recorder and record both myself and my co-host in a separate stereo track. In Audacity, I split those to mono and edit each track with time locked and compress to 1 track during audio export.

It's not the best method from what I hear but my co-host and I are 200 miles apart and he doesn't have a decent PC so it works for what we need.

Personally I edit using Garageband, but once we got in a good groove I hired a local student that I found on Upwork to handle the editing :)

• Initially (for Product People and MegaMaker I would edit using Garageband.
• Then, I switched to editing use ScreenFlow; because I could be much faster.
• These days, @jonbuda and I hire Chris Enns to the editing for Build your SaaS and it so worth it! We just record and drop our individual files in Dropbox for Chris.
