Prioritizing when you've got to do it all...

Hey all,

It's been a while and I've got to say I haven't progressed much.

I can find all kinds of excuses that could help explain why, but the truth is: I just suck at prioritizing the right thing at the right time 🤦
Always thinking I need to do everything at the same time, I never have enough focus on any one thing to actually see it through.

Anyway, I wanted to share an interesting book I stumbled upon, which made me realize I need to NOT do every thing all at once (ok, maybe seeing Michelle Yeoh's 2022 film also catalysed that pain point identification a bit...)

The book is Running Lean by Ash Maurya. I actually found it from The Lean Startup, but I have the impression Ash's book is way more applicable!

Already, the Lean Canvas he proposes helps me articulate my idea way better, so that I can share it and keep challenging it.

I've just updated it a bit so the reading order follows the natural way in which he suggests filling it in. And also flipped it so it starts from the market and customer (on the left) and has the parts concerning the product on the right.

Anyway, here's the version I'm using. Let me know what you think 😉

Customer segment (not plural: to focus on a single segment at a time)
(right-align) Problems (top 3)

Unique value prop (central as it's really the articulation between the 2) : single, clear, compelling message that states why you are different and worth buying.

(right-align) Solution (top 3 features)
Channels (how to go to market)

Revenue streams (what's in the top line)
(right-align) Costs structure (what's in the bottom line)

(right-align) Key metrics (how to measure progress)
Unfair advantage (moat)

PS: sorry for the cheap formatting, I wrote this on my mobile during one of my kids' basketball training... 🤷
