Procrastination that works

Structured Procrastination (SP)

SP was Coined by John Perry, a philosophy professor at Stanford.

The why and an action plan for SP:

  1. The gist of SP is that you should never fight the tendency to procrastinate—instead, you should use it to your advantage in order to get other things done.
  2. Generally in the course of a day, there is something you have to do that you are not doing because you are procrastinating.
  3. While you’re procrastinating, just do lots of other stuff instead.

Among all the productivity tips out there, this is the one that has been the most guilt-liberating and easy to implement for me to get more done as a maker/ solopreneur.

Just to be clear, this post was formed out of SP, my day's plan is to read 2 books.

Thanks for this post, definitely going to do that next time I am procrastinating. I joined Indie Hackers 15 minutes ago because I was procrastinating. But this was the best find ever since the idea behind this community is exactly where I am today. I have so many cool ideas that I've wanted to start businesses before but I have not committed to any of them. Today is the day! Today I will start working toward that goal of getting my own business up and running.
