Product Idea for Developers: "Headless ecommerce platform with content modelling" - What do you think?

Hello everyone!

I'd like to pick your brains on a product idea that I've been toying with after building a couple of online stores with Gatsby and using the existing headless ecommerce solutions.

This is the development of a headless ecommerce platform which has content modelling capabilities built-in, sort of like a CMS (like Contentful) which also acts as an ecomm platform (like Commerce.js).

The target audience is Front End Developer, either Freelancers or working in Agencies, and the problems I'm aiming at are:

  • Inflexibility of current headless ecomm solutions when it comes to Product Pages. It's just "Title, description and price" and if you want to extend Shopify or something like that, you either have to connect a CMS or add a 3rd party app.
  • Unhappy Editors. Content modelling capabilities are very useful to Editors who can drive the content changes any way they like (and then of course talk to the devs to implement the FE change). An example is adding a new field, like an extra field for highlighted review or something. This should make your customer who is going to be managing their products and content themselves, happier.
  • Flat fee. Every ecommerce solution is charging per transaction, which means that for a company making something like $20K MRR, they end up paying about $1000 to something like Shopify. The price I'm thinking is $199 per month, flat, which should help you be clear on the costs to your client.

I can get into more details for other features that I'm thinking to improve the offering, but I wanted to check first if the main product offering of "CMS + eComm + Headless" makes sense.

I promise that I'll follow up with a landing page but I wanted to get some initial feedback first. :)

Thank you all in advance and do let me know if I posted this in the wrong group, or in the wrong way.
