Project Time Estimation App.
The problem exists in software professional services, but translates to any freelance project involving a bespoke project for a client.
- Requirements are never set out in black and white and agreed
- Time estimates are very loose and not based on past experience.
What if we had a piece of software which allowed you to input requirements from customers and then get them to amend or agree them (a kind of digital contract)
Then you would follow a wizard which helped you to estimate the time required for each piece of work. It would remember that time you took to complete past similar projects and recommend an amount of time to estimate.
Finally, you can use the software assisted time estimate to generate a quote and send it to your customer, which they can approve by clicking a link. This then starts your project and allows you to track time against specific types of work. The data recorded serves as an historical record and is used to recommend time estimates in future.
Thoughts? Any freelancers out there who might find this useful?

I am mostly approaching it from a consulting perspective, like if a client needed a strategic marketing report (that would probably take 2 weeks working on it full time) or if a client needed a business model overview (this could take 1-week worth of full time spread out through 4 weeks length of time though) does that make sense? that's just my thoughts on it.
Yeah that would be a totally valid use case. The idea is that people provide time estimates which become more accurate over time.
