Promote Hour Review by a customer: very low quality service

I see a lot of IndieHackers asking about Promote Hour service, probably because they cold email every indiehacker to use their service.

I have actually used their service, and they cold-emailed me (probably from this website).

I didn't get any PR results from using their service. At least 10-20% of their outbound emails to journalists bounced.

To save you the trouble, I found two other people who have also had bad experiences (read the comments section)

• BTW, DO NOT trust 5- star reviews on trustpilot, as these can be gamed. I have actually run into a shitty company that bought reviews from trustpilot. See the fake reviews here: (https://www.trustpilot.com/review/salesource.io)

Their PR process is like this:

1. they write the press release for you. But since it was so low quality and the press release about my product was incorrect, I had to write it for them. EDIT: oh yeah, and it was extremely poor english. So of course I had to rewrite it. I was reminded of the poor english after reading some of these awful trustpilot reviews!
2. then they rely on a gmail mass email outreach to send the email.

And you're paying $300-500 for this (at least I did around a year ago)

I have warned them I was going to post a bad review, and they sent back zero email replies.

You're far better off hiring someone on Upwork for far cheaper. You can get the same results done for around $50.

Grossly overpriced service.

And I have to write about it because no doubt they are cold emailing hundreds of founders from IndieHackers.
