Roast my idea

I've been working for the government for about 10 years now. In different roles I helped companies find subsidies and grants to grow or develop new innovative products.

One issue I've seen a lot, is that these subsidies were used by a small amount of companies which had the financial means and capacity to both find the right subsidies and go through the rather time consuming process of applying to it. There are many (around 20.000) different subsidies available, and most companies miss out on quite big opportunities.

The online tools that are available aren't of much help for most entrepreneurs, as they don't take into consideration the specifics of the project you need funding for. So, more often than not, you'd still end up with a lot of subsidies that are not what you need - and missing out on subsidy opportunities that would actually help you grow.

Together with a co-founder I met, I want to build a tool where we use AI to help companies find matching subsidies. We think it should include some info about the differences between the available subsidies (in the amount of paper work required, for example), and maybe give some advice about the application procedure.

I'm very curious whether one of you has applied to one or multiple subsidies before, and how that process was for you. Is it really an issue, or am I just really missing the point?
