Roast my idea: Website creator with automatic design algorithm

I've been thinking for some time about an application for creating simple static websites. The app will have a creative algorithm for automatic layout and design generation. The flow of how the app will work:

  • the user provides the text and images that she would like to have on the website
  • the creative algorithm based on the text and images generates several different layouts and website designs
  • the user just selects the layout and publishes the static website

The problem that service is solving?

Not everyone is a graphic designer and can design a good-looking website. The application will generate design based on content.

    I would be interested in this, but since you asked for roasting:

    • website builders are a space with several heavy-weights that can almost be called household names (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow,...)
    • that means SEO is going to be hard
    • it also means that if you get any traction one of the bigger players might just yoink the idea
    • also, searching for keywords on what you are describing I get quite a few hits - which is not bad necessarily, but with the complications above, whoof

    I am pretty sure this is a neat side project, but how much MRR do you want? That part may be hard..
