II love the idea!! I usually write a freakin novel about a page when I don't like the messaging and the positioning etc. but this is very clear so just a few minor things.

I think the font size is too small (where you start saying "The premise of this book is") and everywhere else you use that font - maybe kick it up in size a tad.

2nd thing - below your first divider line say something like "available as a download in PDF format or through Amazon" so that they know before they budge an inch, that there are two ways to get it.

The "problem" is that the downloadable PDF is the complete set but the amazon stuff is broken into sub-sets - I would probably reverse the order and show the amazon stuff first as separate books - then ALSO include a way to buy the whole set of books or one book that contains everything through amazon at a discount versus the combined price of the books (say "a 20% savings!")

THEN when you show the PDF you can buy say that it includes the whole set combined.
You explain that it does but everyone is still dreaming about drawing and not scouring the details so just say "COMPLETE SET AS A PRINTABLE E-WORKBOOK" (although consider just saying workbook and lose the "E-")

Bigger question - why not just sell the complete set as one big book on amazon or one bundled set of books on amazon and then one big book as PDF - reduce it all to basically two products. Then my choice is "either /or" versus just give me feet, ears, and eyes.

Pricing - I can buy the printable for $10 or the amazon set for $48 plus maybe shipping? that's a problem - printing it all at home eats up 335 blank pages of paper - that's gonna slam someone's printer. you need to think about how you are packaging and offering this totally cool thing you have.

My bonus idea - let them download a couple of starter pages to draw on - three pages - one eye, one ear, one mouth page. The download comes with an intro/explainer page telling them what to do and how to do it and a final page that says "don't stop now your just getting your drawing skills warmed up!" re-direct them back to the website with a URL so they can then buy the rest of it.

Offer a taste of the fun for free, collect their email on the download - drip emails them afterward - 1 minute later (time to start drawing!), 1 week later (how did you do?) with a link in the email back to the site again to make the big buy of the rest of it.

Honestly - you see the GIF/Video, it looks so cool, you cough up an email and hit print, one minute later you're doing it yourself just like the video - get the email and let them print it right from a webpage, don't even send it as an email with an attachment - tighten the loop like crazy - maybe add the video one more time at the bottom right next to the offer - "Get a pencil and start right now !!" after the submit button they land on a PDF page that says "PRINT THIS" and some drawing instructions and then the pictures. It's like the website spit a toy out at them.

oh look I wrote another freakin novel...oh well - good luck, now I want to draw...;-(

Thanks so much for all your thoughtful ideas! There's so much gold there I'm definitely implementing most of that - especially the 2 product offering idea. I might sell through Lulu instead, as a larger book would work better with a coil binding, which isn't available on Amazon.

Free sample is definitely a good idea, with call to action at the end! Thanks again for your feedback and ideas - I've been working in isolation pretty much, so it's good to hear some different perspectives.

Such an awesome idea! I've given you a few things to think about in this review: https://www.loom.com/share/3cdd828a69c64cc9831751a8f46ca550

    The main points are:

    • Focus your headline section
    • Think about reducing purchase anxiety
    • Include more details about the outcome of buying this book

Thanks so much for that thoughtful roast! So much to digest in there, going to have to watch it a few times.

100% agree about everything in the headline section, currently really wasting the most important section! Going to have a few friends who are better at writing try to make things more interesting. Listing key points is a great idea as well, to strengthen the pitch.

Working on a version 2 now... thanks again!!

The font is kind of small in my opinion

Thanks! I see what you mean, especially with the body text.

Check out your page on a phone, it doesn't render as well as on desktop making it super hard to understand what exactly you're buying at the end of the page.

    1. 1

Thanks! Will do, I did try optimizing somewhat, but it needs to be really good on mobile, especially since I'm planning on using IG ads to promote it.

  5. 1

nice, did you buy template or did it by yourself?

    1. 1

I built it myself using Webflow - with a few injections of Javascript that I wrote to localize the Amazon pricing links.

  6. 1

I like the idea. I think removing the Webflow logo as your favicon and using your own logo instead would be a good idea. Also, I think the color scheme could do some tweaking. Other than that everything looks good.

Good catch with the logo! Need to remove that before launch. Thank you :-)

I don't know if the landing page itself is good or not but the way you offer to learn drawing seems the most boring on Earth to me... sorry for the honest feedback, I don't have intention to hurt your feelings. I learned drawing a lot and I just couldn't imagine I'd fill up dozens of cells with the same drawings :-0

    1. 1

Well, learning how to do something is sometimes boring but ends up being worth it in the end. Like for instance learning how to read is boring as hell but once you learn how to do it becomes enjoyable and the easiest thing on the planet to do. Me personally it seems totally like a great idea as a product and it's not necessarily about whether one person thinks it's boring.

how to do something is sometimes boring

Absolutely not in this case. Drawing itself is the act of creativity. Learning how to draw is a cool, very interesting and pretty creative process too. Such exercises kill any creativity. It's not the same as learning how to read or how to do math.

        1. 1

I disagree, hence why I made this product. In everything I've learned in life, there's always been some aspect of grind at the beginning before the process became really enjoyable. The idea behind what I'm doing is streamlining the process, trying to get people to the enjoyable part faster before they give up.

    2. 1

Sounds like it's not really for you, everyone has a different learning style.

What a great idea. As someone who's never been a good sketcher--- and wants to get better at it--- I'm very intrigued by this idea.

Overall the website design looks great! I would make clearer what the contents of the book are, and how they will get the customer to their goal (presumably, to become a better drawer). You do mention it in text, but I would add a section that visually makes that clear, as it wasn't immediately clear to me the first time I looked at the site. For instance, you could show how the first part of the Faces book starts with simple things like an eye, and then show the amazing face you'll be able to draw at the end.

I'd maybe also add some value proposition language reassuring the target customer what this book will help them accomplish. E.g., "Think you're bad at drawing? Don't worry this book will help you become a pro. Your friends will be amazed at what you can draw!" (That's very exaggerated language, but you get the gist).

Keep at it, I'd definitely consider purchasing this product.

Thanks for all your feedback! Good ideas regarding the messaging, this part I struggled with the most. I'll see if I can think of any ideas to visually show helping the customer get to their goal - I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

Thanks again for your ideas :-)

I would just add that on mobile some of the alignment is off or atleast things could be better spaced out.

    1. 2

Thank you, I'll review it again on mobile, I looked a bit, but should really refine it as much as possible here.
